How to choose a Hotel to stay

Choosing the right hotel may not save you money but it definitely will save you heartburns and bad memories.
A decent hotel in Thailand should cost you approx. INR 2,200 to 2,500. There are many hotels on the higher and lower side as well but it is necessary to take an informed decision. For example, in any hotel the cheapest category "Run of House" may not be suitable for family tourists, while it might be okay for backpackers.

In most cases, tourists want that the hotel is not in a remote area, local transport is easily available, Indian Food is available in the vicinity, the nearby area is vibrant and lively, internet accessibility is there etc. Normally, the hotels in the Silom and Sukhumvit areas fit the bill. These are the most "touristy" places, have access to sky trains and underground trains, nights are lively and Indian food is available round the corner.

While in the hotel, avoid eating or drinking from the mini bar as the items may be expensive. Using the hotel phone or internet services will also come heavy on your pocket. In the Silom and Sukhumvit areas, you just have to stroll a little bit here and there to find the items you need at the market price. In most cases the ubiquitous Seven Eleven should be sufficient for your needs.
